I was spending most of my workday doing what I normally do, which is looking online at all the nice mobile case types I could buy as a gift for my cell phone. I really do appreciate it and all the hard work it does for me and I thought I’d show that. Then of course the office Internet connection went down and I stared at a blank screen for fifteen minutes. It had gone off before I could use which model and now I just didn’t know what to do. Sure, I could go back and start doing more of my work, but what about my cell phone? It was sitting right there in my pocket, taking calls, voicemails, and text messages and had nothing to show for all that. I go to work every day and I get a paycheck every two weeks and benefits. What about my cell phone? Does no one care that it’s constantly slaving away for me, doing what I don’t have the time to do? It even tells me when I miss a call. How many of your friends will do that for you? I can’t think of any offhand. So I always think of what I can do to repay my cell phone.

Chicago SEO is Chicago search engine optimization. It is a form of Internet marketing. It works something like this. When you do a search on an Internet search engine, you put a keyword or keyword phrase that has something to do with whatever subject you’re searching for more information about. For example, if you want more information about fishing in the Chicago River, you might type in ‘fishing + Chicago River.’ SEO is the peppering of the likely keywords onto a company’s website so that it comes up highly ranked in an Internet search. To bring up the earlier example, if a company is a fishing and touring boat company that goes out on the Chicago River, its going to find keywords like ‘fishing, Chicago River, boating’ and more and fill its website content with them. This brings more visitors to the company’s website and more business. Or at least it should bring in more business so long as the site is attractive and enticing enough to keep the visitor interested. This can include effective graphic design, easy to read and understand web content, and often some copywriting done on the site to keep the visitor reading a long and ready to buy.

I was glad to get the tickets to the Boston Red Sox game but I didn’t want to be doing favors for this accountant for the rest of my life. He called me up this morning and asked me if I would deliver some of his tax stuff to Mrs. Murphy so she could sign. I drove out there and got the envelope and took it to Mrs. Murphy’s house. Oddly enough, Mrs. Murphy wasn’t home. I wondered if she got someone else to help her out with driving since she had glaucoma. I left the envelope between the screen door and left. Joe was happy to get the Red Sox tickets so it was all worth it. Willow was on TV that night and I decided to watch it. I was still mulling over my column for the paper and it was due in another week. That guy was still picketing with his goofy sign and it was picked up and displayed on YouTube for a while. What a nut! The kitten is doing find and I am happy to say that both Paul and Bill are on the wagon. I think being a father to kittens really sobered Paul up and he decided to have her spayed so this doesn’t happen again. I think Mrs. Sparkles will do much better with her new life. Bill love his kitten and he is doing well at AA. As a matter of fact, he wanted to be a sponsor, but they would not let him because he is less than a month sober. And Mike’s foot is healed, thank goodness. He fixed the deer hoof gun rack and made it into a hat rack. At least if a hat falls down, it won’t shoot him in the foot.

The hard drive on our server crashed. I knew that this was coming because for the last several days the server had been making a strange kind of ticking noise that I had never heard before. I had let my boss know that I thought that something wasn’t right, but as usual he completely ignored me. Now our only hope is for a miracle from some type of data recovery software or for a service to come in and fix the problem. We’ve lost today’s business records at the very least, and lord knows what else really, because my boss wasn’t the greatest at remembering to run the back up disks every morning. There would be times when days, or even weeks would go by without the system being backed up. The scary part is that I don’t know how much these recovery programs and services are capable of. Will all or even any of our data be able to be recovered? The loss of even a few days of information could really do irreparable damage to our business, making it almost impossible for us to continue on. This all could have been avoided if we had come up with a plan and stuck to it rather than just assuming everything would be okay.

Since I have been working here at this office I have been able to save money for school, but not quite enough for next semester yet. I wonder if I can get more hours. I am going to have to go ask my boss when I get here tomorrow. She seems really busy, but maybe I can catch her before she starts her day. I’m glad she is approachable for me, because I have worked for people who just want you there no questions asked. My boss wants me to do a data backup offsite on all the work she does from her clients. I’m trying to keep up with her. She can generate a ton of work in a week. I’ve never seen so many documents and my life! But she has been doing this work for a very long time, and she does have a lot of clients. I guess having someone here to answer her phones and set her appointments is just what she needs. She says she can’t keep anyone with her long enough to properly train them, and so therefore she is very glad I am really interested in my job and can do it well.

Our office has grown so fast over the last couple years. We are thinking about moving to a bigger space and hiring someone to answer our phones. We are so excited about our business taking off as it has. It seems we work long hours without even knowing it. I think that is a great sign of things to come. We should move to a bigger space, but not so big that we can’t handle all the extra costs that will come with it. We are already exploring offsite data storage solutions. We are cramped that much that we really should think of moving into a larger space. I am so excited I can’t sit still since our business has taken off in such a good way. We started this business on a shoestring budget. Grandpa helped us by teaching us how to make birdhouses, birdbaths and other things like that. He always told us that if we wanted to have a nice life, we have to work hard, and we would have to work for ourselves instead of making someone else rich. We have always loved our Grandparents a lot, and really have listened to their wisdom concerning life. They have never been wrong.

I wasn’t the only one facing financial trouble in Flint Bankruptcy seemed to be epidemic, with every other person, it seemed, filing one type of bankruptcy or another. I tried to stave off the trouble as long as possible, but I eventually couldn’t pay even my mortgage. This was the end, I thought. I needed to try to at least save my home. I had worked all these years to try to make something of myself, and I couldn’t let this set back ruin my life. I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to sell the house and move to a better economic client and a better weather climate. I had studied hard to get a degree in hospitality management, and had paid my dues with a series of low end jobs, working the graveyard shift, and now, when I just started to make some money and get ahead, the economy lets me down. This wouldn’t stand! I would not be beaten by the economy. Just because there was a recession, or a depression as far a the auto industry is concerned, I wouldn’t be stopped. I just refused to participate in the recession. I would file if I had to, save my house, reduce my bills, pay them, and leave.
